Writing about social issues!

Hi all!  

Hope you are doing well! Welcome to our fourth activity. Please, post your comments before June 1st, 8 p.m.



1. In groups, make decisions about the social issue you are going to deal with, considering how it is noticed in the global, national and local levels. Do not forget to give your points of view and offer possible solutions based on your perceptions about it.


2. Write an esssay in paragraphs considering the suggested format. Take into account all the aspects suggested previously. It must have 350 words at least.


3. Tips for writing:

Language use / writing aspects:

Simple sentence structure considering topics worked in class until now.
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation rules, etc.

- Include as much details as possible.
- Useful vocabulary you need to express your ideas.
- Coherence and cohesion.
- Useful conectors or linking words.

4. Prepare your final presentation, to be presented from June 5 to 12 (10 minutes per group). Be as creative as possible.

Writing about my reading interests!

Hi all!  

Hope you are doing well! Welcome to our third activity! For this one, you will write about your reading interests in English language. Post your comments before April  16th, 9 p.m.!


1. Choose a reading  from your own personal interest (60 pages at least and B2 level, as we agreed).

2. Write a creative composition (150-200 words), trying to give an answer to all the aspects or questions mention below:

a. The book's title and its author.

b. Why did you decide to read it?

c. A general abstract from this reading.
d. What did you get from it?

3. Language/writing aspects:

- Simple sentence structure: subject + verb + complement.
- Look for useful vocabulary you can need.
- Check grammar, spelling, punctuation rules, etc.



4. Prepare an oral presentation (5 min each) about this reading, to be presented in classes the next week. Feel free to use visual aids/useful materials.

This is the best world's city for us!

Hi all!  

Hope you are doing well! Welcome to our second activity! In this, you will write about "The world's best city", using English language. Post your comments before April 5th, 8 p.m.


As we agreed, you will be work in pairs. So, make decisions accordingly to what you decided last class.

1. Follow the given instructions on page 73, practice activity 2, module 8 - Cutting Edge textbook.

* Imagine you are tourist guiders trying to persuade a foreign visitor that one of these places is "the world's best city, considering: a) a town/city you know well, b) your town/city.

2. Write a creative composition (70 sentences at least), considering all the proposed items in the mentioned activity (language focus) and the use of quantifiers with countable and uncountable nouns.

- Do not forget to include relevant information about history, culture, customs, food, places to visit there and possible social issues to deal with.

3. Language/writing aspects:


- Simple sentence structure: subject + verb + complement.
- Look for useful vocabulary you need.
- Before posting, check grammar, spelling, punctuation rules, etc.

4. Plan your presentation as creative as possible assuming your role (10 min per group) about the selected town/city, to be presented on  April 10th. Feel free to use photos, slides, etc.

1st creative writing challenge!

Hi all!  

Hope you are doing well! Welcome to our first activity. Please, post your comments before March 14, 8 p.m.!


1. Consider the brainstorming activity developed in class about the video "I want to be a pilot". Link... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LivgEs5gYtY


2. Write your own version of the story. Try to use a short tale's writing structure: introduction, body and conclusion.

- Introduction: it usually offers something that changes / affects / motivates the characters of the story to overcome a situation.

- Body: it usually reveals how the characters move toward overcoming the situation.

- Conclusion: it has to do with facing one difficult choice and decides one correct option while working out of the situation.


3. Write a paragraph for each one of the parts mentioned above, giving your own ideas to tell your version of the story. It must have 150 words at least.

4. Prepare an oral report about it to be presented on March 15th, you just will have 2 1/2 minutes and it is expected you to say 50 sentences at least.

- Simple sentence structures, consider past simple and past continuous.
- Useful vocabulary you need to express your ideas.
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation rules, etc.
